Yes, the tins have been modified.
The front for the oil fed tensioners, and sides maybe for dual plug?

Oil fed Tensioners on the front pieces, and cuts in the side pieces possibly for twin plug spark plug wire routing; or possibly to clear the suspension bolts on engine insertion / removal (though this is not usually necessary)

The front piece and two of the three side pieces are aftermarket copies.
Carrera tensioner mods are not an issue. Even on an original part.
The side pieces ? installing a 6 engine is always a juggling act.
I would never cut originals. I install them after the engine is mounted but I have
stupid patience and tenacity.
Cut fakes ? who cares ?
I'd fab a filler piece to attach after engine install.
