Trying to change the dash gauge faceplate and this is the last thing holding me up.

I am leery of pulling too hard befor I check.

She is a pretty original ‘73 1.7.

Thanks!

That’s what I always do. I have a screwdriver that is designated just for the little screw in the knurled knob.

Thanks for the responses.

I’d imagine it is a very small tip screw driver?

I've never seen the back side of the dash instruments, is this the speedo or tach? I need to fix the dead odometer this winter and have been checking references for the process. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

Yes. I modified one with a file until it fit perfectly.

@Jamie - that's the speedo and the attachment in question is the short cable for the odometer reset dial. do NOT turn it while the car is in motion.....

Yes, it does pull out.
Use a curved needlenose plier to lever off back of case.
Marks suggestion is correct too. How's your eyesight ?

The whitish collar "clamps" into the back of the gauge.

A bit tricky, but it will come out.

Just repaired mine, followed instructions on pelican site. The metal gear starts to slip, squeezed it as instructed. was kind of a PITA but works fine now.
