Here is a solution for oil starvation when driving your 914/4 in the manner it was designed!!
Highly recommended for ANY 914, street or tracked.
Simple install.

Hello there.....is it wrong thinking on my part that this will somehow get hit since it is lower that the stock set-up? I like the idea of more oil and curing the starvation of oil issue which I know nothing about. Please share a little more of why this is a good idea. Thank you very much.

Its a common concern but in reality the sump once installed is no lower than the engine mount bar. If you are dragging the sump on anything, there is something else going on ~
Its purpose it to MAINTAIN oil pressure.
The 914 was designed to be capable of navigating curvy roads at high rates of speed and (with the right tires) + G-force's.
The result of which is to cause the oil in the bottom of the engine to slosh away from the pickup. By extending the PU into a small oil reservoir at the lowest point of the engine, that should never occur.

Do these leak any less than the stock sump cover? Any special consideration need to be done when installing or extra gaskets required?

Typically the stock sump cover isnt an area I see a lot of leaking. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)
Unless of course your sump mount boss had been over torqued & isnt holding?
The cap nut seal is the only other area I can see leaking, it is replaced with an
tapered female bolt.
No extra gaskets or special prep is necessary unless you plan on running it with the screen. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

@914werke - Rich, are these steel or aluminum? When you go to order it shows a "Raw" as to the finish but the pictures show metal or black finish.

They are anodized aluminum. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Initially I offered both black & raw (or Alum.) finish.. but no one wanted the black so I made that a special order option.

@914werke Getting ready to install but had a couple questions:

1. Is there any added benefit to running the screen with the extend sump?
2. If the screen is used can I use an RTV to connect or should it be tack welded or soldered instead?

Given that the screen will only stop rather large pieces of debris, the reality is at that point you recognize its catching stuff,
you have bigger problems to be concerned with. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
My belief is the screen is a hold over from the T1 design w/o a spin on filter.
So no its not necessary.
But.. if you want you use it, its not that hard.
1st - you need a third sealing ring to sandwich the screen flange between the sump mating surface & the cover.
2nd - you need to ream the hole in the thin alum. on the bottom of the screen that is only as large as the M6(?) sump stud, to a hole that will fit the female securing stud .. snugly. Go slow & work up to your fit. If you just hit it with a drill bit you may not like the results BTDT.
Last - I also used a file & opened up the slots on the base to allow a bit more flow, no real evidence that it is necessary it just made me feel better.

Permatex Motoseal 1 or Honda/Yamabond - same stuff, I believe.
Remember - the oil sump plate is 9 ft/lbs which is 108 inch/lbs...not a pound more.
