4 days to Amelia!
I thought I’d start a thread for anyone getting your car ready for Werks Reunion/Amelia Island. I’d love hear about your progress. If you’re like me, you probably need some encouragement. I have no idea how a I will get the car ready in time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) But a deadline with some accountability will help. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/evilgrin.gif) My goal is to do something on it every day. We will see. So where are you on getting your car ready? Here is where I am starting: I made some more room in the garage and got it turned around today. But family duties kept me from getting anything else done. Here is what I need to do in the next month or so: Get engine running - rebuilt, but never run but for a few minutes at most Install carbs Pull the alternator back out because I get spark when I hook up battery - back plate of alternator grounding out? Put side windows and wing windows back in - Uggg Install new rubber Install windshield Install rear window Install engine lid and 3 powder coated grills Install headlight covers Install side rocker covers Install chrome Get new tires mounted on wheels Install master cylinder/bleed brakes Install shifter hook shift rod up Install interior - carpet, back pad, etc. Install new steering wheel I think that pretty much covers it. I forgot to say thanks to @914live ! I got the Porsche steering wheel from him a few weeks back.
I have to ask, has anyone ever painted their signal lever? As you can see mine is peeling off, just metal under the chipping black paint. Today I ordered wiper arms, and Brad Penn/Penn Grade 20/50 oil for oil change. But the long list of stuff has been completed. The last things to do are put in the LED headlight bulbs, wiper blades. And maybe transmission flush. It sure if I will do that at this late stage, but I have not changed trans fluid since the rebuild 4 years ago. Last weekend I got the front wheel wells cleaned out, removed old rust preventer and repainted - they look good. I had to put small spacers back in due to inside wheel well rubbing with the 205/55-16 tires. I hope that’s all!! |
