Another poster from Michael Keyser that I framed up, the start of the 1970 LM24; first time that the drivers did not use a 'Run to your car style. # 40 way in the back of the grid. My local Ace hardware store in Silver Lake has an art dept 'Baller Artware, where I get my framing supplies + glass. Picture framing is easy and about 50% savings over frame shop prices!

Yessir...good eye titled 'Battle of the Titans. Also in French, Deutsch, Italiano. Michael 'Still-Framed lots of his motion picture shots that he took during the 1970 event. I grabbed many of his posters from his online store. Once upon a time he offered this 'Titans poster signed by dozens of drivers. I missed out on that one !

We have the exact same picture framed in our den. But ours has Vic Elford's autograph on it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

@ClayPerrine Quick Vic did set the fastest lap time in the1970 race, but his 917 was a DNF. Our #40 came with a yellowed/ old crusty Sonauto factory poster signed by Vic; which was stuffed in the rear trunk.
I restored it pretty much & framed it !

Fresh off the printing press (www.autograph.net), the 1st edition of "Rennsport Monterey 2023", and we were very surprised that the cover pic was our #40 Sonauto. Of the hundreds of photographers covering the 4 day event, Kristina Cilia took this pic which was chosen by the editors for the cover. During the event we did have a meet & greet with the Cilia Family, @Dominic is a member here on World !

Marty (IMG:style_emoticons/default/number40_914.jpg) I have gotten behind and am just seeing this! I know Kristina and she does fabulous work and I have even posted on this site some of the pictures she has taken of my car.
Congratulations Sir, and well deserved!!!
Edit, I just bought the book it says only 7 left! Sure glad I found this.

@Lucky9146 Jim glad you picked up your RR7 book, and only 7 left ¿?
At the recent Air+ Water show in Costa Mesa I met up with one of the editors of RR7 book; said that #40 was choice #C for the cover. So there were an A) and B) in the running...they must have had a strong liking of the 9146gt and Sonauto LM24 history to pull that rabbit out of the hat !

oh yeah.

outstanding moment in cinema.
quentin tarantino would just love to equal it but never can.
(too post modern as a director? - the fate of all of us after the 20th century officially ends sometime around 1979 as the ramones once stated in one of their songs).

highlights for me.

SM (or is that MD) slides the rear window shut.

exhaust explodes.

its his masterpiece.
pure STYLE. zero fashion.
as i understand it a lot of cinema students take it very seriously these days.

lurking in the background at all times is the underdog of all time.
#40 backed by a french porsche dealer.
its a fairy tale that came true. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

even the pyscho engineer dr f piech must have gotten on the booze the night they won.
everything. and the whole lot was his evil creation. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif)

@wonkipop Tarantino recently purchased & refurbished the Vista Theatre in East Hollywood. It was built in 1923, and it now looks Fantastic ! He screens a mix of new and old; hopefully he will show the (now digitized improved) Steve McQeen LeMans movie. I did see the (improved) flick in Hollywood a few years ago at the TCL Chinese theatre>>front row and Dolby sound, it was Good (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

i have not seen Le Mans on the BIG screen in a proper cinema since i was at university back in the late 70s.
that would have been great. esp sitting in the chinese theatre in LA. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

@wonkipop The ChineseTheatre viewing of the movie several years ago had a Post screening panel discussion, M/C was Alain de Cadenet and guest speakers; Derek Bell, 'Quick Vic Elford, and Chad McQueen.
Best take away were the team Ferrari vs team Porsche discussions by Derek and Vic...just superb !! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif)

Bet that was cool to see, and thanks for posting about the Vista Theater, it would be worth the trek up if he does decide to air LeMans there. Hope so!

Make damn sure you retain those pictures!

He's going to want them later...

I WOULD NOT trust digital (electronic storage) ONLY.

I'd make prints NOW!

So Cool!

I'm trying to find a picture of me now.

I was a little bit younger and checking out the engine of a performance go cart my dad had.
Even back then I was a gearhead...

I'd actually driven around "Watkins Glen" in that by that time, inside mom's womb.

Just shortly after I was born, I went Cape Cod to California and then to Texas SLEEPING on the engine cover of a VW bus.
My "lullaby" was a Type 4.
Parents said I went to sleep instantly on it.
Those were different days...
