So, I've been a member here since 2011. I've been interested in 914's for longer than that. But to be honest my focus was always in the 356, 912 and 911.
After I sold my 944S2 I went on the hunt for a good 912. Which I did find, and bought... so I thought. We had a gentleman's agreement. Shook the guys hand and planned to pick the car up a week later. Day on forehand the owner started to act weird. Long story short, I didn't buy the 912. Actually after numerous 'failures' in buying an air-cooled Porsche I got fed up with the entire Porsche scene. I had cash burning in my pocket and so I bought a VW bug instead. And another one. And a 69 westy camper... One of the bugs ended out as a buggy project the other got sold. So after just recently selling my buggy I finally bit the bullet and bought my first 914. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) Finally! The '69 westy stays in the fleet though. That's for weekends with the family. That brings me to my plans. I'm trying to make it a focussed weekend driver. So I'm planning on new/ better shocks, maybe bigger sway bars, sticky tires, upgraded discs all without losing the stock look. It's going to take some time the find the proper parts... but since the car is still currently in L.A. at a dealer and I'm located in The Netherlands I still have some time on my hands. Update here |

Unless there’s some dealer exception I don’t know about, nobody’s going to the DMV anytime soon....
Calif DMV website California is in a State of Emergency, use other service options to complete your DMV transactions. Beginning March 16, 2020, DMV allows customers to avoid coming to a DMV office for 60 days. Effective immediately, customers whose transactions require an in-office visit will be served on an appointment-only basis and currently there are no appointments available. Continue to check the DMV website for the most current information. |

Since they have to do this manually, probably are not licensed. About 4 yrs ago, there was a Costa Mesa dealer scam involving high end cars and the dealer owner happens to live on my street. He sells Lamborghini, Ferrari, MB, Porsche owned and on consignment. A consignment BMW M6 got sold to 3 different people: one got car but no title, another got title only, 3rd sent the fund in for purchase then wait....., M6 owner signed over the title to sell but got no car or fund. Another Ferrari owner in Midwest paid for a car but it never ship- long discussion on Ferrarichat including rumors of hit men out for the dealer owner. There were several other vehicles involved but I only know the BMW and Ferrari because I know the people and the situation. He even had armguards at the empty house 24/7 for couple weeks. While perusing Ferrarichat, I found another dealer in Costa Mesa pulled the same stunt. https://www.google.com/search?q=ferrarichat...p;client=safari https://www.fi-magazine.com/321762/calif-de...or-embezzlement https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/o...ar-scam.179890/ |

Dealer have the ability to submit documents and PRINT paper plate so customer can drive away. How efficient for a car dealer that sells 1 car a week to walk in to DMV and wait inline each week while making customer wait couple days to come back and pickup their car? I can have registration submitted AND print a paper plate on the spot so customer can leave within 1 hour with any vehicle of their choice at 5pm Sunday. |
