Thinking of getting a 3.2 or a 993 3.6. If using the factory 914-6 engine mount will I run into any clearance issues around the crank pulley area?
I know of a few other issues that I may encounter. For you 3.2 and 3.6 guys out there any words of wisdom before I jump into this? |

The 3.2 stock A/C pulley is easily cut off. On one conversion that I did, I used the 914-6 mount. On the others, I used modified 911 mounts with much shorter arms. Been doing it that way ever since. Of course, my front engine tin is a bit different than the stock 914-6 piece to accommodate the modified 911 engine mount.
I seem to recall that some of the later air cooled 911 engine cases are slightly different where the 914-6 mount and the 911 engine mounts bolt on. I think they added a threaded hole at some point and early mounts can be used if a stud is installed in the correct hole. The later mounts used the other threaded hole. (It's been a while since I've converted one, so perhaps I'm dreaming this up.) |
