OK,
I am a bit envious. Seems that many of you have figured out how to purchase springs and shocks for the rear of the 914. I have found myself going to different web sites being completely confused and as a result looking at all of you with envy. Shocks, Pegs......Lucky! The 914 rubber guys have 150lb springs, no shocks. Various sites have Bilstein's and then a few have an 'adjustable' gas shock called KYB. I found some 'racing' sites with 500lbs springs and then many options - mostly indecipherable. I need some couch time, here is what I am looking for. I have a mostly original '74 2.0 with a blown rear shock - that blown shock is original, which I am sure comes as no shock. The car seems to be a couple of inches lower than stock, I would like to have it ride a bit higher Other than that, original safe performance is all that I am seeking - What would you recommend? Spring LBS capability? Vendor? Approximate costs for estimates? Thank you! |

I have a bunch of good used shocks that were tested by Eibach when I was working with 914 Rubber to developed the springs they have. The stock shocks can not change the rear ride height. If you want to change that you need a Koni or Bilstein with an adjustable perch. If it is low in the back the springs are probably saging.
