It seems like we have a consensus on the categories.
Here are my suggestions for possible awards. Best in show - Porsche Crest on a nice plaque Longest drive - a gear, piston some other car part. Frank Sinatra - A Martini Glass. Best non-NARP - A license plate frame that says "MY OTHER CAR IS A PORSCHE". Golden Wheelbarrow - golf / tennis balls painted gold on a plaque. Pimpmobile (most bling) - something Chrome Best RS - any piece of (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/stromberg.gif) will do. Someone mentioned a traveling trophy for the longest drive. That might present a logistical problem getting it back each year if the winner does not attend the next RRC. |

I've got the Scirocco wheel and brake rotor (914 front) covered.
Engraved plaques for each part will likely run $10 each. |

so roughtly you need 80 bucks
hey team do we need to add 5$ to the registration fee? pros: we don't run short, we have a tiny padding for the unexpected, and we might have more left over for donating to charity... cons: will make it a TINY bit harder for people who are really struggling with the financial decision around attendance. weigh in please I'm thinking its a good idea brant |

Here's the final decision on the awards:
Best in show- A real plaque, in aluminum, welded my me and hand polished, with a Porsche hood crest Longest drive- Liz's original steering wheel (cheaply recovered) Frank Sinatra- A four-bolt rear rotor with five studs (as in five-bolt conversion) welded on it in a questionable manner (Liz's idea) Best non-NARP- The Scirocco wheel Golden Wheelbarrow (Scott Thatcher award for driving a POS)- Cut a medium-sized, recognizable rusty piece from a parts chassis. Pimpmobile (most bling)- A VW logo off a bus on a gold chain and Best RS (taken)- A new plasma cutter I think we're going to need the raise the registration fee because I purchased the RS award today and it was significantly more than $10. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/unsure.gif) All the awards will have engraved plates attached, made by a local trophy shop. I still need the Golden wheelbarrow piece and the VW bus logo. Here's the RS award. I'll have a sticker made to describe it as a RRC bonus. Sounds good Joe. Thanks to Liz also for her help.
Maybe you should return the Best RS award to preserve the budget. I have an extra hack saw blade you can use instead. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/cool_shades.gif) |

Goes with the wheel arches. Best RS award goes to... ME (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/w00t.gif) Bite me you PorVolks homos! (especially Joey) Seriously... I have an idea that I've been tossing around in my head (yes there's plenty of room up there). I'd like to offer a couple of "Humanitarian" type awards to be given out annually to club members that have made a difference. The idea came from bad calipers that I have laying around. I would have them plated and mounted (silver and gold). There would be two give per year. Golden Caliber/Caliper Award - Karl Silver Caliber/Caliper Award - ??? you guys decide I simple need plaques to bolt some freshly plated caliper 1/2's to. I would like to offer the first golden caliper award to Karl for his work the Peter's family. You get the picture. Thoughts? Any idea where I could get the plaques (that is if you think it's a good idea)? |

Eric,
I'm fine with the caliper Idea. regarding awards cost in general.. joe, eric, do you want me to pay pal $ from registration to each of you, or do you want cash when we meet in person. I intend to bring a full accounting... well nothing fancy really... just a list of all registrants and the total of that money with me. Then I will give the meal money to ben in cash, and the rest will be for the charity... minus the awards cost of course. brant |

Fresh from the junk yard (it's actually really straight), a driver's side headlight cover for the Golden Wheel Barrow award. We decided it shouldn't have an engraved plaque like the other awards so we save $10:

Honestly, we didn't drill it for a plaque because I'm hoping the recipient needs a driver's side headlight cover. Hopefully it can be stripped and put back into service because it's actually in very good condition. |

The non-NARP award. I feel a lot better about factory aluminum wheels. This was a bitch to cut in half.

This took a lot longer than I expected. I welded up this aluminum plaque for the Best in Show award. It's the sanding that takes forever.
It'll have a new Porsche crest and the paper represents the size of the engraved piece that will be attached to the front. Attached image(s) |

Non-NARP in progress. I welded a place for the engraved piece. I think I'm going to cut it down some more before it gets cleaned and painted:

And Longest Drive. I found a cool cover (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/unsure.gif) . I need to lace it up, paint the middle and attach the plaque:
