Just saw this on Bring A Trailer. Looks pretty nice. 36k miles and already at about $36k with 4 days to go. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1976-porsche-914-22/ |

Thanks for sharing.
It’s a nice car but the stereo and muffler need replacing. Does anyone know how thick stock paint is? The paint meter is showing ~10 to 15 mil. exhaust for our 75 just got back from being ceramic coated. Attached image(s) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) RE: '75 on BAT It's been repainted as stated in the ad. The readings are "heavy". The stock exhaust is in place but the muffler obvioulsy isn't. |

I think the paint meter should be around 3.5-8. 14 is high. I think.

A guy there was checking the paint and it was either suffering from a full-on skin of bondo or the thickest paint job in history because the meter could not read it. (It was an Elcometer which an industry standard.) I referred to the car as a "Sculpture Class". I've seen some terrible work in my day. There is some ugly stuff running around with pretty paint. |

Alright...I'm stumped here. One of the photos from this 76 car has me perplexed. What is in this frame? I see a transaxle towards the bottom of the photo, which means this black hinged plate is mounted to the rear of the bottom pan for? Not sure thats evena 914 transaxle. Whats that galvanized steel bar? Is this photo even of a 914?
