Ok, One of the things I've been working on are mask coverings. There are 2 options
1- N95 cover 2 -PM2.5 cover They are sewn slightly differently. The N95 has more of a point to it. These are covers for the filters. I can get the N95 masks as shown at $5 each and the PM2.5 @$1 each They are nit included unless you want them. You may be able to buy in bulk at a better price, I'm adding nothing to the cost. The coverings are $10 each and will be made to order. Your options are the Hounds tooth in Black and white Black and blue Black and yellow Black and red May do some black and green if there is demand Also I have the plaids as shown. May be limited on some quantities of different colors 1st version is the PM2.5 shown in red houndstooth Just let me know which version you want and the color. Are you sewing in a piece of wire over the nose bridge so you can form it for a tight fit?

Are you sewing in a piece of wire over the nose bridge so you can form it for a tight fit? Waste of time. Cooties are very small. Coronavirus is 60-140 nano meter particle size. They will still spew in and out between the pores of the N95 filter and fabric. N95 mask material is a government efficiency rating that means the mask blocks about 95 percent of particles that are 0.3 microns in size or larger. Notice that isn't 100% blockage even under ideal conditions of use. 0.3 microns = 300 nano meters. Therefore Corona virus is 1/2 the size of what a N95 filter is able to filter. 0.3 micrometer of filtration assumes you have a PERFECT seal around the entire perimeter of the mask which isn't possible. Of course, if you have a beard, or stubble, be sure to shave that too. Otherwise what little mask seal you have is further compromised. |

I agree these masks are not intended to seal like a true medical grade N95 mask and may not completely protect us if someone with the COVID virus were right in our face sneezing but they are certainly not a waste of time and may give a high level of protection for ourselves and especially others. I'm curious where you get your information. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stirthepot.gif) Below is off the CDC website: The virus that causes COVID-19 is approximately 0.125 micron (125 nanometers) in diameter. It falls squarely within the particle-size range that HEPA filters capture with extraordinary efficiency: 0.01 micron (10 nanometers) and above. Many media outlets have incorrectly stated that HEPA filters don’t filter below 0.3 micron and therefore could not capture airborne coronaviruses. That is flat wrong. (This NASA study of HEPA filtration is quite technical, but the graph on page 7 and the preceding paragraph do a good job of explaining why HEPA filters are actually most efficient—almost 100 percent at 0.01 micron—at capturing ultrafine particles below the 0.3-micron HEPA test standard.) |
