In all this talk about car colors I stumbled upon this car for sale in the Netherlands

https://dyler.com/cars/14163/porsche-914-co...purple-for-sale

Prior to me re-spraying one of mine this color, I was only able to find evidence of one 914 ever having been delivered in this color, and even that one was a factory re-spray before delivery if i recall. Quite a few aubergine, but no lilacs.

It looks like this one may possibly be a factory lilac car. There are a couple things i question on it (painted targa bar and bumpers on a 73 2.0) but im not sure if this just might have been a difference with european delivery cars?? If this was a post delivery re-spray though it looks to be very thorough.

Thoughts? Are we looking at possibly the rarest 73 2.0 car out there? Is anyone aware of any other factory lilac cars?

There was one at the WCR in Monrovia. I'll look for a pic. Talked to the owner for quite a while; he knew he had an unusual car.

Ask for the colour code, code 98 (or L98) denotes it was a custom colour car.
Lilac is a dark/blue purple according to the 914world colour chart.

Aubergine is noticeably darker
Rasberrys are very noticeably pink/red

Having painted a car lilac that looks identical to this, this is almost definitely lilac.

Whats the paint code on that car? Im wondering if they had a different "lilac" in later years.

All the Early 70s "lilac" code 341 cars I have seen look like this.

They indicate paint code 601:

Looks like color name Grau-lila:

Love it! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif)

The body color bumpers, sails and targa bar just make it that much better. If that's not a factory combo it should have been.

Available, but has anyone ever seen one that came that way? Only one I was able to find previously was that 6 GT car.
