I ripped the 8 to 79 to 78 back up 78 to 79 to Sunrise Highway this morning. Zero traffic on 78, I might have left some rubber on the turns.

On the way to Julian on 79 I got passed by a sport bike on the double yellows, I called him an idiot and found him a couple miles away smashed into some rocks on the other side of the road after, presumably, not making a right hander.

Idiot. He looked shaken up but not hurt badly. Had 3 cars pulled over to help him. Saw the emergency services heading his way by the time I got to the scenic vista turnout.

It was 95* up there at 9:30am. Cayman staid a typical 175*.

Cleveland Nat Forrest and the Angeles Nat Forrest still closed.

Might want to check this:

I think Julian is outside the Cleveland Forrest but not sure what your route might be.

Hope it does cool down.

Should be way cooler by then, San Diego normally kicks hard into fall over October...it's 102* outside right now but a week from now it will only be 80*

Been driving around a lot solo lately with the 'lock down'--really can't go wrong in the back roads around here... it will only suck if the Santa Ana's kick up because then we get super warm dry air, pushing your car on back roads generates some high engine temps in those conditions.

We will stop at Toms Farms first, meet at 7am. Leave by 720. Ten to Temecula we will stop at the chevron on the map. We should be there by 8am and again leave by 820. Then to Jullian, it will be about an hour to get there. We will stay for at least 2 hours no set plans on departure time. If anyone is interested after that we will go to Pala or at least drive the 76 and you can keep going to the 15.

In! 315 mile round trip (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

I've also arranged a Meetup with one of the previous owners of my car who now lives in San Diego that had the car from 2006-2010 up in Portland. A former 914World member @salmojs will join us in Temecula in his 996. How cool is that?

Some of us in the San Diego area are planning on meeting at the North County Fair parking lot, and then heading to the Chevron Station in Temecula.

Anyone from LA, (north of 10 Fwy and west of the 57 Fwy) want to roll down to Corona together? My starting point is the 134 and the 5 Fwys heading east.

I’m meeting Keith 914toy at the McDonald’s in San Juan Capistrano. We will leave at 6:30. We will then go straight to the chevron station in Temecula via the Ortega (74)
