hello 914 experts,

Need some help before I start programming my ecu. I have an LS6 engine and a boxster s transmission.

Does anyone know if i can use the vss sensor on the rear of the boxster s transmission?

I know there are a few different types of signals or pulses or what that rate is so I can convert it?

Thabk you

I don't have Porsche specs, but VW is usually 8000 pulses per mile (same suppliers) and GM 4000 ppm.
4000 ppm is the most common for asian and everybody else.

Usually square wave and trailing edge for the signal.

Shouldn't need it for the ECU unless you added cruise control, or on an automatic it kicks up the idle speed when it detects motion.

Later 911s had electronic speedos which match the Look of the 914 gauges. The 911 speedo has the pulses per mile stamped on the side of the can.

If the Boxster signal output doesn’t match the speedo, you can get a Vss converter to make it work.

Or use a programmable speedo, if you’re going with non-Porsche gauges. Either way, you can use the Boxster signal and use whatever tire size you want.

In my case, the Porsche electronic speedo matched up with the Audi 01e VSS; works perfect. For the PCM to bump idle when AC is switched-on, and the radiator fans to off when +40 MPH, I added a GM VSS and reluctor mounted to the CV.

The speed output to the speedometer on a boxster comes from the ABS module.
I used a Attached Image on the cv joint with a vr sensor.
