Hello.....I need a side marker base and I go to 914 Rubber and their only offering is a $46 Auto Atlanta part. I thought 914 Rubber competes with AA so the prices can be more competitive? Did I miss their product offering? Are there any alternatives to the AA part? Just asking.....
Thank you,
gg

Perhaps Mark found the profit margin too slim to go solo development on this when all the beans are added up. Can't say as I blame him. 'Pimp' is rather rude.

Also not fond of that term. Although I think it is often done innocently, I wish people who use it would take a moment to think about what a pimp really is and really does, and how they do it. It's a term rooted in misogyny and exploitation of women.

Pretty common for one company to sell another company's products. I don't see it as a big deal. Convenient to order all your parts on one site and only have to pay one shipping fee. Even Restoration Designs sells AA products. See post #250

I find it helpful the companies sell each others products. I order from about all of them. Better then having a good size order from one of them, and then having to order one thing from the other. The small amount they mark it up is still less than the added shipping and handling for having to order it separate.

Both are loyal 914 people and yes $46 just think of the cost to make a batch (100) and it takes 5 years to sell them. I’m glad there are good people out there making the parts. Imagine Porsche making it for $149. These are not Fords or even VW parts.

Exactly! Love really positive thought out threads like this (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

Why don't you just shave the side markers & be done with it

The thread title is offensive.

This is exactely what Mark was talking about.

Shaving the side markers would require some body work and skills.

Can.t get that at your local Wallmart and it makes $49 look like a bargin.

It’s actually neither. Mikey914 is Mark Whitesell’s son. Mark has been selling AA parts for a while. I think George reciprocates.

Fine....I will just glue my old one to the fender. My 2000 Chevy S-10 needs a lower radiator fan shroud..dealer $117...internet $11 plus shipping totals $24 and arrived in two days. Why is everyone so cranky? I have spent hundreds of dollars with both companies and was just trying to find out where to get a lower priced part. I have been a professional recruiter for 25 years and have never been offended by the term pimp, flesh peddler, or anything close to that. What gives? Is this really an issue? My apologies to Mikey and no offense intended to George. When you have been in sales for 55 years you tend to grow a thick skin. I can't tip toe for everyone. And I have been in injection molding for several years. I get it....was just asking...sheesh!! Why is everyone so cranky?? I think this political correctness has gone overboard....I wish I could go to a swap meet and buy one for $5....I am too tired to argue this point....I think we have all hit our limit. May I never post a question ever again...

I remember when Mid-America Motorsports got out of the Porsche business they tried to sell us their left over inventory. One of the things that stuck me was how many of an item they had. Many times it was some knob or switch that they made because people "had to have it" and there were 937 in inventory. My guess would be they made 1000 and if on dozens of items they still had over 900 years later, that is not good business. Anyone who makes repro parts should be thanked, and thanked again, because for the one item that does sell well, two do not, and they eat it, like Mid-America did.

I agree 100%. George sells some of my stuff and I sell some of Mareks parts and sometimes even some 914rubber or AA parts.. I am as small of a company as there is. Work out my garage now and what keeps us all going is eachother.. I will tell you that I take no offense to the OP s post but I was not mentioned.

In order:

- Yes, it's really an issue.

- I think the point is simply correct, and not political.

- Please keep posting questions. A question about the supply chain is actually quite valid, even if it was not phrased in a manner that was conducive to respectful dialogue.

Has the law changed so that the front side markers are no longer legally required?
If a legal requirement, but removed, will insurance cover an accident where visibility is called into question? Just what are the legal ramifications if you are caught doing so?
