Why don't you just shave the side markers & be done with it
Has the law changed so that the front side markers are no longer legally required?
If a legal requirement, but removed, will insurance cover an accident where visibility is called into question? Just what are the legal ramifications if you are caught doing so?
I'm sure an insurance company lawyer could make a case for almost any modification. LED headlights, euro tail lights, lower than normal ride height, non stock steering wheel, etc, etc. but almost every style of vehicle has a hotrod following and I've never heard of people not getting covered due to their modifications. Think about what we do to our 914's, 3.6 conversions, Chevy conversions, electric motor conversions (adding hundreds of pounds to a car) mods to the suspension, brakes, bodywork, etc.
If $46 is too much for a reproduction specialty part, there is always used.
