Why don't you just shave the side markers & be done with it Has the law changed so that the front side markers are no longer legally required? If a legal requirement, but removed, will insurance cover an accident where visibility is called into question? Just what are the legal ramifications if you are caught doing so? I'm sure an insurance company lawyer could make a case for almost any modification. LED headlights, euro tail lights, lower than normal ride height, non stock steering wheel, etc, etc. but almost every style of vehicle has a hotrod following and I've never heard of people not getting covered due to their modifications. Think about what we do to our 914's, 3.6 conversions, Chevy conversions, electric motor conversions (adding hundreds of pounds to a car) mods to the suspension, brakes, bodywork, etc. If $46 is too much for a reproduction specialty part, there is always used. |

Whenever I have to pay for a 914 part or service I have to remind myself that we are all lucky to have access to these old parts and people who know how to work on them. Example my 914 mechanic is part retired, just does smaller type repair jobs now.

who else would be crazy enough to make 914 side marker bases then autoatlanta? Have over 500 in stock along with the replacement pegs. Really stupid to make that many but we had to or they would not have done them. Good part though
Hello.....I need a side marker base and I go to 914 Rubber and their only offering is a $46 Auto Atlanta part. I thought 914 Rubber competes with AA so the prices can be more competitive? Did I miss their product offering? Are there any alternatives to the AA part? Just asking..... Thank you, gg |

I can't imagine the tooling and production came cheaply. Gotta sell a bunch of them before you see a penny's profit. Thanks for undertaking this task.

Fine....I will just glue my old one to the fender. 914rubber & others sell just the clips that hold it in. My base was fine, it was just the layers of double face tape the PO used that I had a problem with (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) |

Clips and or the seal should really be the only things you need. The base really doesn’t go bad. Any corrosion can be removed by soaking in apple cider vinegar.
It’s the right time to replace the lens seal I. That part of the seal tucks under the base. I did however make my base seals a little different in that the seal side the lens fits into has a step like the lens for a better seal. Also have the rubber boot for the wiring if you need it too. Here’s how mine are different As well as a visual on why now is a good time to change them out. Attached image(s)
