Got more DIY questions...
Bruce and I have the tranny out of the 1.7 but we need to order more parts before we reinstall everything. Right now the tail is up very high on jackstands and we have a few blocks of wood bracing the back of the motor. It seems as though the motor won't stay in place without the blocks; is that correct? We want to bolt the rear tires back on and roll the bar a few feet back so we can work on the front brakes. Can we do this sans transmission and with only motormounts holding the engine in? Thanks, "the real Dave" |

I would put a floor jack under the rear of the engine and CAREFULLY move the car a few feet with one person on the handle of the jack and the other pushing the car SLOWLY.
