Looking for the gummi O ring for the front grease cap on 4 cyl, it's NLA

Factory part number is 421 839 455

I'm trying to get 914Rubber to reproduce this part, would you buy some if available?

@IronHillRestorations

I never knew one was there. Have you searched for a common o-ring replacement?

That O ring looks like its for the 914/6 front grease cap not a 4 cyl model.

All VW products had one in the 1970s, most were never replaced when removed.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) often overlooked. But it's a pretty generic use. Something "in the ballpark" should be fine.

Don't think the 5 lug cars had one.

They were available a few years ago.

It iwas never on a 6 or a 911
It is not a standard type O ring, it's soft , foam-like.
As seen in the photo it has a glued seam, made from running material.

Actually looking for an original. We plan to replicate or improve the design. Oil based greases will attack rubber. Viton is most likely the best option.

Any movement on this? My hub seals fell apart when I pulled off the hubs.

I'm thinking that part number: 2418T199 on McMaster-Car, might be perfect.

Soft Rubber
Oil Resistant
48mm = 1 7/8 inner diameter
3/16" thick
Round profile

Thanks.

George
