Just put them on today and took a cruise. These are last year's so if new ones are even better, get some.
Really is a race tire for the street. Not quite as sticky as the Proxes (40 treadwear) track tires I had, but a lot smoother. Buzzy at Hiway speeds, but just the ticket for canyon carving, and 205/50's really suit the gearing of my stock 2.0 FI. 2nd gear starts and Mulholland becomes a a 2 gear road, 3rd and 4th. I may even pay Lagunero for them (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) |

Stock 2.0 Foooks. You rode in my car with the 195/65 street tires. Big difference! BTW, room left, so I bet the 225's will fit on the back. |

I've got to say that I don't like 205-50s very much for a street car. They've pushed my cruise rpms to almost 4000 rpms unless I'm driving really slow. They are great for AX though.

Well, if my calculations are correct (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)
Circumference of 205/50/15 is 7.6% less than the stock 165/80/15 or 195/65/15. If so 3500rpm stock setup would require ~3766rpm with 205/50's. Will check with GPS when I get a chance. My speedo was dead on with 195/65's. |

In the latest Grassroots Motorsports Tire Shootout in the non-race rubber with DOT approval class the Falken Azenis new model took top honors, the older model 215 I think was almost as good but suffers from heat when pushed. This is the reason I guess behind the tire misting going on at the AX grid. The newer ones were better but still suffer when hot.
I have a set of the older ones on my 240Z... Rob |

I have a set of the older Azenis on my 2.0L Fuchs for AX and I am looking to get a set for the 16x6's I am getting this weekend to put on my 912 turbo project. Does anyone have a good source for well priced RT 615?

hahaha. I just killed my AO32 Rs with my V8 car. I baked them to threads in front of my house. Attracted 2 Cobra drivers in the process. I bought a new set of RT 615s. Man are they slick out of the box. it took 3 practice sessions to rubb off teh mold release, but once it came off, I knew I made teh right choice. most guys get a full AX season out of them

I have driven Azenis 215, 615 and the Yoko A032R Softs over quite a few miles and in AX as well on three of my cars. Azenis is the most affordable by far and they wear very well, but the Azenis doesnt match the Yokohama in terms of grip in most situations. I wouldnt expect a harder compound tire like the Azenis to grip as well as softer compound tire. I think in some situations those Yoko's grip as well or even better than harder compound Hoosiers - cold days on the first couple of corners they heat up quickly, but lose their advantage after a couple of corners. If I had only one tire to choose from I'd go with the Azenis as it is the most practical. The Yokohamas are expensive as you mention (Yoko was $110 compared to $62 for the 215) and wear twice as fast, but reward with higher levels of grip. Yokohama's also have stiffer sidewalls that result in tire having better turn in than the Falkens. The Azenis does float around on the rims with their softer sidewalls, but they are still far superior to most other street tires. I'm about to go with Azenis 615's on my Boxster that should be fun! If money was not concern I'd probably go with the new Yokohama Advan 048 on that car. |

Howard...how you doing? Haven't tried Azenis ... but put on two Toyo's RA-1's on the rear(have odd rear size 255-16-50). Stuck really well at "big willow " last weekend. Have Kumo MX 's on front(225-16-50). Still having trouble with" turn 8"....not enough downforce yet ("need a wing"). Hey...when is the next coffee meet/run?
