Frunk Hinge Bracket Split? |

Is this split in the corner of the bracket normal, or should it be continuous (either the original stamping or welded)?

Although I have not looked at mine, one would think it isn't a big deal. There is not that much spring pressure or force on these. It should be fine.

no thats right.
i looked at mine which is original. the two folded bits of steel in the stamping meet right there. no weld as far as i can tell. it looks a little cleaner on mine but its where there is a join between two separate bits of metal as it folds up. i can try and photograph mine if you want as its all factory still. |

its not pretty. but it is a complex pressing. double fold for spring retainer. and its thick metal mercedes benz style, not like present day options of tissue paper tin or plastic.

Thanks, guys. If I had noticed before painting, I would have welded it. Now I am not sure if I want to back to the paint shop.
