enjoyable to look at these photos.
car is remarkable. hard to believe after half a century that they are still out there. whats the date code on the spare? newish re-issue?, but its a nice bonus. looks like the car has been reshod in them all round. the re-issues are a softer compound these days and have a surprising amount of grip. at least the XAS, but those should be pretty good. interior is stunning. Like a new car. Clean it top and bottom thoroughly, it'll only get better and better. Keep it as it is....a perfact time warp. Congratulations. |

i can see where it is on one of the photos.
but i can't read it. looks like it might be 3 numbers, meaning pre 2000. there are 4 numbers post 2000. looks like it might say 474? which would mean 47th week of either 94, 84 or maybe 74. no way to tell what decade prior to 2000. if they are that old they won't be so sticky! michelin have been making them in their new serbia plant since about 2014/15. but i don't think michelin stopped making runs of their classic tyres in europe because the guys with citroens always seemed to be able to get them. i remember putting a set of those ZX on my squareback in 92. they were about the last tyre you could get in the correct size that were still around then. the sticker on your spare is cool, they don't do that anymore. the sticker would probably date the tyres if you talked to someone who knew. but if your a concourse type you could roll it on to the grass on those and play with everyone's minds. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) just noticed the little stickers on the fan housing in the front trunk! also - front guard of red car behind your car earlier in thread. is that what i think it is? can't tell, probably not. |

Can’t see clearly, but does it have the engine tuneup sticker in the drivers engine tin ? If not I’d be glad to send you one. Coming to the NE Gathering this weekend?

connie liked to drive?
i see she traded in a 72 pontiac lemans with a 400 ci v8 (180hp) for the 914. 100+ hp drop - but got way better handling. oil crisis induced decision? the pontiac was a great looking car. she had taste. |

@simonjb
can i ask a question of you for our 1.8 L-Jet research? what is the painted stencil number on the engine tin. usually hidden down where heater blower hoses go to engine tin. could be on either side. this looks like it was originally a 49 state car. without gauges or console (standard temp sensor lid on engine sump). predicting stencil number is 918? Great find! I can't believe this car came from Connecticut! She must have never drove it in the winter.
