Are all 914 steering wheels interchangeable for all years?

I’m looking at purchasing a 1976 2L steering wheel (here) and am wondering if the spline count, depth, etc. allow it to fit a 1974 (engine size unknown) and a 1973 1.7L?

No not all the same but a 73 or 74 wheel will fit.
The 70-71 wheels are different. The hub and cancel ring are different. The spline is the same for all wheels.

@914sixer Not completly correct

70-71 turn signal cancel ring is different and will not work with 72-76 unless changed out. All the wheels are the same in all other respects.

Yes, 76 will interchange with the 72-76 models.

Thanks, Bruce.

So the 76 wheel should fit with no changes to both the 73 and the 74, and the 73 wheel should fit the 74 with no changes - correct?

If the wheel ends in “10”, it’s early and fits 70-71. If it ends in “11” it’s mid and late and will fit 72-76

An early wheel has a Porsche hub while later uses a VW design.

Also, early has a flat front to the hub while the later ones are dished.
