From the picture of the engine compartment, looks like it could be Metallic Red beneath the silver.

VIN: 9140431453

The last pre-auction bid I saw was $10,200. BuyItNow was 39.5k(?).

Did anyone here buy it?

It showed Reserve Not Met at that point. That was last I checked, also.

Some of those Copart sellers are nuts, thinking clean title estimated value is a reasonable ask despite the usual salvage title / damage / neglect.

It looks like it’s an original Metallic Red (81) car which is pretty rare. Only 8 1970-1972 Metallic Red 914-6s are listed in the database. The notes on 914world member’s vin info says it could be Bahia Red but that wasn’t available until 71 so I doubt that. Did they have custom colors or paint to sample in 1970? If so, that’s a possibility.

Look like my neighbor's old Toyota Tacoma 2wd.
Wow that car is roached and crusty

That car is (still) at the legendary 'Porche Foreign Auto' in L.A. On their website for $35k, strange they tried to use Copart to sell it since they usually post on the Samba classifieds. Its probably been in storage there for 30+ years. Shelf-worn patina.

Looks like a /6 someone may buy for $30K, spend $100K and many years restoring then ultimately sell for $80K. Its upside down from day one.

Presuming they were to get the 35k, engine/trans/carbs adds a quick 30+ to the mix? I don't think 100 gets the job done. WAAAY short. Then you have to find just the right person when it's time to sell. Scary.
