Since I don't want the retractible headlights I am using that space for the dual radiators...
The typical Boxster/996 radiators are mounted at an extreme angle at the corners and vent below the car. There is not much room in the 914 so this will have to work. I could use a Renegade type or custom sizes but my guidelines are to use as many existing parts for future availability or replacement and only design and fabricate mounts and ducting. This car already had the headlight bucket and bottom cut out. I will get the Boxster y-pipes and hoses next week to test fit them. Attached image(s) |

Finally acquired full radiator assemblies and fit up the lines, now the real packaging work begins. They were not cheap since the PO bought them used from a dismantler for $1500! Fortunately I got them for less. I plan to use the A/C condensers that add about an inch of thickness. The fans may be tough to fit but interestingly they duct the air down under the car just where the floor cut-out below where the headlight buckets used to be... Have sawsall and tin snips ready but I need to wait until the neighbor and babies are away... Tim, I have a DIY article for to the "s" auxillary radiator upgrade in 986's but they have much more space between the radiators than on this car. Attached image(s) |
