All,
There seem to be lots of events out west, and on the east coast. But nothing here in the Texas area. So I am thinking about a Texas hill country drive the weekend of April 22, 2022. It would be like the Talimena tours in the past. No awards, no banquet, no nothing. Just show up Friday night, go for a drive on Saturday, cookout in the hotel parking lot on Saturday night (if they let us), and go home on Sunday.

Here is the potential route:

The route is about 4 1/2 hours and incorporates the Twisted Sisters roads. They are not Tail of the Dragon, but they are twisties. Tenative lunch stop at the Bent Rim Grill. This is a motorcycle/car club friendly restaurant outside Leaky, TX.

Let me know if you are interested in showing up. And if your 914 is on jack stands, show up anyway. Bring anything from a Motorcycle, a Miata, or your tow vehicle/daily driver. We will probably have a 914 BS session in the parking lot that night, so bring pictures and questions for discussion.

Hope a lot of you are interested. I think it will be fun!

Damn Clay, you have my attention and I'm 1200 miles away. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) Plus, I could visit family and grandkids whilst there. The Texas Hill Country is packed with great roads and now some wineries. The Kerrville cops run a tight ship so security will be good. And the food.............I think I'm talking myself into this one. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I'd be interested Clay. Not sure if it would be with the 914-6, 911, or Boxster.

That sounds like a great route. Katie and I would definitely be up for something like that. We can't do the weekend of April 15th though. That's Easter weekend and we'll be busy with multiple rehearsals and services. The weekend after (or 2) would be great though!

This is 6 months away. So everything is subject to change and discussion. I didn't realize that was Easter weekend, so it could be done on a different date.

Sounds good… hopefully my current project will be ready - maybe I’ll use the trip as a target. But I’d probably make it either way.

The scenery in that area is amazing. Wish I had a proper car ready worthy of the drive.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) That will be a fun drive! I possibly can make it depending on work and Spring XC Texas series races. I spend many hours driving the Hill Country in my mighty 1.7 as well as my 986.

Attached Image

All roads are paved, IIRC they were applying "chip seal" last Spring on a few of those roads.

Lukenbach is 45 min away from Kerville. Just head down FM 16 toward Fredericksburg and make a right on HWY 290

I have been to Lukenbach. I was not impressed. If it weren't for that song, it would have faded away by now.

There is no "official" route or anything like that. So you are welcome to go visit Lukenbach on your own.

May the ghosts of Jerry Jeff and Willie and Waylon and the boys haunt you.
Might be a good excuse to visit my sister-in-law in Boerne come April and take this weekend drive in. Bring the -6 would depend on weather between W. Colorado and Tejas.

Drive those roads often, but appreciate another excuse to do so. I'd be interested.
