Well, unfortunately, the NAPA 2909 discussed above does NOT fit the stock 1.7 round cleaner. It's way off (yellow circle is what the ID needs to be.)

The return shipping exceeds the original cost so if anyone needs it let me know.

Yeah, really easy to see the nasty air gaps under that one.

Man, that was 12 years ago lol. I have been doing this way to long.

Never personally tried it but I am still betting the K&N E-3270 is probably going to be the best aftermarket option based on the specs.

And im curious enough to find out now that I just dropped 83 bucks after tax and shipping on the last one summit had in stock to find out. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/knn-e-3270

Ill let you know how it goes...



Otherwise
This is probably the best adaptation of a non stock filter i have seen so far, not sure how well it seals at the top though
