I was under impression that 914-6gearbox was numbered 750xxxx or 751xxxx for 70 and 71, respectively.
Is that correct ??
Also….what can be done to restore/refresh appearnce of case

T...I think you're correct...here is a chart on them...my 70' 6 trans is 914/01 #7501731

what up with the appearance on your trans...you could do the dry ice thing or soda....it just get oil under there anyway (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

A steam pressure washer does wonders. Mag wheel cleaner and a brush is a good diy. Soda or dry ice is fine for a running trans.
I don’t use any abrasive media unless the trans is coming apart.
Be careful with mag in an ultrasonic cleaner. It can break it apart.
