This upsets me to no end. I can feel for your loss. I’m going to look into these tracking units for my car and see just how much more I need to pay to up my agreed value.
Maybe an alarm is the answer. |

@Marv's3.6six I spent 32 years in SO Cal law enforcement. I was the supervisor of the property crime / auto theft unit. Make noise with the Property Crimes Detective Sergeant and / lieutenant. Lieutenants are lazy, they don't want work or calls, so they will tell the Sergeant to solve it. Ask me how I know. (Yes I ultimately promoted but was not one of "them." HB used to have Jim Katapodis who was on the council, retired LAPD.. see who else is police friendly on the council and reach out to them. The POA there supports certain candidates and dont want to hear that the ones who bought them off aren't performing. The fact that a 100K porsche was taken in what is looking like an inside job is embarrassing to them. They need to dedicate a resource. I can't tell you how much as a police supervisor, I didn't want calls from outside the building. Email the Chief or make an appointment. When they say, what is it regarding, "Citizen dis-satisfaction and a Sergeant or Captain will not suffice".. that gets you to a commander / deputy chief. Lots of Cops are "car guys" at least the older ones... you may get a sympathetic ear. The HBPD page has an email for property crimes detectives, but you will get more with a call. If you want me to walk you through how that conversation should go reach out. Im a former prosecutor as well, I speak the lingo. Robert Thank you for the tips. Bruce Powers owner of Autowerkes is heading this part up. He has contacts in HBPD that are also his customer. |

Because it's such a nicely sorted car, if someone were planning to keep it around and keep in intact, it would be quite easy to wrap it and change the color with minimal effort....Just sayin'... I hope you manage to recover it soon. It's a despicable act for sure.

I would also check with the ports (US Customs) as most likely if they don't cut it up they might look to ship it out of the country.

Can US Customs be notified to look out for this car at all the shipping ports along with air freight?
Still heart broken about this. A new car is easily replaced. No so much with a custom like this. Fingers crossed that something breaks soon on this case. |

Very sorry for your loss Marv. Try to keep hope that it will be found intact. You have this entire 914 community looking for it. Most shipping companies will ask for the title and registration. Maybe it is worth alerting the shipping companies in your area.
May the force be with you. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clover.gif) |

Awful to see this thread continue with no (good) resolution, Marv. If you're at the insurance stage, I hope some clause that will allow you to buy the car should it be found is included.
It's so strange when cars like this get stolen—as they're custom enough to be "celebrities" of a kind. Short of taking some parts out, what else can you do with them? Unlike stock cars, there are enough defining "marks" on the car that someone in the community is bound to recognize the car sooner or later—particularly with the advent of camera phones, social media, etc. And a whole car isn't very easy to dispose of. Here's to holding out hope that you get this car back… |

Sorry to hear you are at the insurance stage.
You have your thread to document it for them. Hopefully lots of receipts. My insurance company worked with me with having those. Of course if you did a lot of the labor that will not count unfortunately. There have been a few GT Tributes on BAT and sometimes they post their receipts for work done, so maybe you could draw from some of those as documentation. Especially if they were more current reflecting todays costs. Best of luck on your journey, I sure wish your car would just show up unharmed instead tho. |
