a side benefit of looking into 74 1.8s on BAT, along with member's data is i (and you) can spot 74 2.0s that never were. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I watch BaT and CL and recently posted here about PCarMarket.
I'm into conditional probabilities, kind of a statistics freak, been watching prices since the late '90s. These auction websites are interesting resources to see what people think is a good reserve price and whether reserves are broken. The PCarMarket auctions are interesting to follow the bidding and the comments. The CL ads are telling also, hardly any 914s hang around there. (https://cargraph.com/usa/porsche/914)

I've been looking for comps for @Marv's3.6six stolen 914 and how difficult his situation is when one owns such an "outlier" of a car and setting a price, wherein I would like to help him. (http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=361739&hl=insurance) The rise and fall of the market for 914s is not unlike the stock market, yet it is different where some people's souls are sold on 914s, willing to pay out the nose for a special car or even not so special.

Lately I've thought how useful it could be to have an auction setup on 914World. Auction cars and parts and services. These auction websites are not difficult to set up. Just throwing that idea out there.

914World is one helluva cool website, I've learned so much valuable information. Thank you All. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

The idea of auction page is good but typical 914 owner is a doer! They buy these cars and work on them themselves. The people paying big money at auctions are garage queens but all cars go up for sale someday.

Ditto!

I'm always following a few P cars, and the occasional F355 gated manual, and get notified when a 914 is listed. Actually had one recently from my hometown- realized it when recognizing the roads on the driving video!

Bid on a nice GT tribute a couple weeks ago- didn't feel bad when it went for 20K more than my top dollar.

There is quite a range of cars, and a real range of knowledge of what people are looking at, or commenting about.

I’ve bought two so far on BAT and both from their “partner” Avant Garde (911r). Great cars, beautifully presented ( though they conveniently leave out photos of minor flaws), but these guys just lie about when wires and titles are moving. That’s no slam on BAT, just Avant Garde (911r) and they move a lot of 914s alongside a gazillion other Porsches. Wondering if anybody else has had similar experiences.

Avant-garde is an interesting business model. They basically built their whole business to sell cars on BAT. They bring in consignment cars and may actually buy cars too. The run them through their shop with mechanics that are actually pretty talented with the cars that they get. Then they have a really good photographer. There is a YouTube channel called Bidnerds that is like a game show where you make predictions on what cars will sell of on auction sites and then they reconcile them the next episode. It's fun but I am biased because they are friends of mine. But I know that they have covered a few of the Avant-garde 914's as well as other cars they have sold. https://youtube.com/@bidnerds?si=l5nT0FTGvv4OUOGs since they do it as a live show you have to look under the "live" section to find the videos and then just look for the dates around when your car sold and you can see if they covered your car

So much agreement about how dishonest Avant Garde (911r) is and for some reason fear to say it out loud. Great cars… great wrenches… great photography but lies lies lies about wires, titles, etc. after the sale.

I dealt with them on an inquiry to consign my 356 on BAT earlier this year. The fees are really high. I think they get 10% and like a $1,500 listing fee to start. It goes up from there if you want dry ice treatment, etc. They wanted a top reserve of $75k on mine. I sold it locally for $85k and got to keep all of that money. It's an interesting business model, but very expensive for the seller. Now, they may have gotten more than $85k for my car, but no way they covered that level of fees.

For a long time when the market was really hot, you had to wait for a long time to get your car listed on BAT and it was a little bit of a pain. These guys were basically a power seller and had some pull and understood what made it work. At the end of the day, it's basically a used car dealership. Like many of them, your mileage may vary. They started out here in Portland and expanded to Arizona.I know some very good people that have worked there but they are no longer there. I have never heard of any intentionally shady (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif) And I know my friends would not have tolerated any of that. But they do seem much happier now.

forgedabout what they are worth.

drive em.

enjoy em.

for the technical masterpieces they are.
(despite the compromises to make them happen when they happened).

ventually they will ban all our petrol fuel cars.

Prices may have dropped because of the economy, but also the end of the summer is not the best time to sell an open top car.

I do have a comment regarding the silver 71 sold earlier this week. I did not want to comment on the site and piss on the new owner's parade, but $22K for a car that has a hell hole rust hole big enough to fit my hand through?

And who is @MCShack ? If you read this, you thought that this car should have gone for more??? Please explain how much more. Cracks in the dash, removed FI, another hole in a fender well. Some of the other comments shocked me.

I couldn't find a silver 71 selling for $22k on the BaT results page. Was it on PCA Mart or another auction site?
