what is that shaft that runs fore-and-aft on the exterior????

Is that by chance the final drive out of a conventional front engined-rear drive transmission with the differential snuck under the mainshaft?? Is that fore-an-aft exterior shaft running the output shaft power up to a differential???

I'll rest "judgement" til someone who knows there way round this thing can explain... please...

The drive would be sticking out of the 'nose'.

Tiptronic is a manual shift/no clutch pedalsystem.. Ill never forget the first time I instructed a guy in a Tip car... I kept looking for the clutch (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif)

I think that shaft on the side is driving a pump that actuates the clutches
