We bought luggage trackers from GEGO and used them on an overseas trip. After the trip, we are wiring them into the 914s, our BMW and our trailer.

https://www.gego.io/products/gego-universal-tracker

They work anywhere in the world, and can be hard wired into the car to keep the internal battery charged. So if the battery in the car is disconnected, it will still keep working for about a week or so until the battery goes dead. And it has location history, so even if it is turned off or blocked from GPS signals, the system remembers it's last location.

Personally, I think it is cheap insurance.

Currently I use Air Tags and at $21 a pop not a bad deal. However, to remain reliable they need to be changed out yearly. They're small enough to stash away on a 914 w/o detection. I like the idea that these GEGO's can be hard wired so it's a set & forget it tool. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I wired a ring doorbell in the garage. Now if the door is opened, I know it.

Here is a comparison of the compliance decals from 2010 at CarParc in Costa Mesa on the bottom, and on the auction page today on top. They are the same decals.

What are the realistic chances this car can be recovered and thieves ever tracked? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hissyfit.gif)

Larry Lee found the auction posting and sent the link to our 914/6 study group. I spoke with George this morning, so he is following up with Ed. We know the car was at CarParc in 2010. It apparently was sold into Europe in 2013 according to the auction site.
So where was it stolen from in 2023, and who owned it at the time?

Something doesn't add up.

The listing says it was in storage until 2011, and unrestored until 2013. But there's a sighting at CarParc where it was under restoration in 2010.

CarParc selling it to a European buyer seems to align, but what happened between 2010 and 2013, when the listing says it was imported to Germany?

What year was it stolen from "Ed"? Was it prior to 2010, despite Dr's first post about it being in 2023?

Initial sale in Virginia and Ed being a customer of Dr914 (Georgia) would have the car on the East Coast; when/how did it get to CarParc in California?
Edit: I see now Ed's photos have California plates, so ignore this one.

Or is this a stolen VIN situation where a Signal Orange /6 was built in Europe using a known real /6 VIN from a theft in the USA?

I have to be careful how I word this, but let me say that I have personal experience and Knowledge of "JB" (see auction) altering Porsche factory records of extremely high-end race cars crashed/destroyed/missing to benefit certain connected friends for a price and/or expensive gifts in the 80's and 90's.

Not saying this happened here, but this definitely occurred with my customers in the day.

Continuing to play detective... "Ed's" photos provided by @Dr914 in 2023 show a different style rear bumper than what's on the car in the auction. Does it mean anything? Who knows.

I first saw the -6 at Car Parc back in 2010 and posted pics and added it to the VIN database.
I have a question: who sent the car to Car Parc originally ?
