Mr "gold chains" is just breaking in the 911 for a real Porsche enthusiast to own. Think of him as a surrogate - or then again, don't think of him at all.

914s rock!

and even had a guy in a new Carerra GT ask me if I wanted to race. (With a wink.)

SMUG BASTARD! I'd have put him in the wall.

OOPS!

M

It was actually pretty funny....

Him: Wanna race? (Wink)
Me: Wanna trade?

We pulled over and talked for 10min or so. He had just bought it that week. Man are those ever sweet...

Lyressa, I treat everyone the same.

I ride their asses, I don't signal when changing lanes, and I cut them off, to turn right on 4 lane highway.

If you drive like me, everyone waves. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/finger.gif)

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif) Yea, I would wave too!!! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif)

QUOTE (VegasRacer @ Aug 10 2005, 09:30 PM)
True story. A few years ago a buddy (911 owner) and I stopped at an exclusive mountain lodge for a few beers after a hike. We were standing in the parking lot when this new, black C4 Cabriolet pulls in. We watch as the overweight 50 year old male driver gets out. He has his polyester shirt unbottend to his navel to show several gold chains. He adjusted his toupee while the 25 year old passenger with the fake tits climbed out. He glared at us as they walked in to the restaurant.

My buddy said "I've got an idea." He had a case of oil in the back of his Suburban. We poured out half of it under the Porsche. The slope of the parking lot was just right and it left a trail from the back of the car and formed a puddle by the drivers door.

We went inside the bar and had several drinks. About 2 hours later we were ready to leave. When we got outside we were rewarded with the pay off from our previous prank.

The tow truck had just finished loading the C4. We waved and smiled as it pulled out of the parking lot. We couldn't stop laughing the whole way home.

Oh, that's classic!!!

Yea, I make a point to meet and greet all Porsche owners.
Having owned a 928 for like 13 years and now 914's for several more. I am a certifiable car nut.
If you punk me with you high dollar 911 at an Autocross I will make a point to whip your ASS with a time slip. I'll Leave it under your wiper blade if given the chance. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/alfred.gif)
Much rather talk to a Street mod Mustang owner. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/chatsmiley.gif)

Wow, some of you people need to see a therapist about this. Your expectations for other people are quite high. Most Porsche owners aren't addicted to their car and don't read Porsche web forums every day all day. To most owners it's just a cool car that they bought.

Imagine the following conversation after you drive up to a party in your Camry:

[dude comes up to you]

Is that your Camry??

Yeah, why?

I drive a Toyota Echo. It's the one under the cover out front.

Ummm, dude, that's great. Where's the bathroom? See ya around.

[glad to get away from psycho Toyota weirdo]

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif) I don't think they're talking about the one's who are not interested at all, they're talking about the one's who think they're better than a 914 owner. Granted, I don't know if the one's who snub me are snubbing my car or they are afraid I'll snub them...could go either way. I'm just talking about the one's who are full of themselves. I can understand not giving a crap...I've been there. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

It's not that I am not very good, it just that you are way, way, way, way, way better.

I await instruction, Master.

reminds me of a 996 encounter from a few weeks ago (a good one though)

me an my friends went out for ice cream one night, and i brought the 924S, so i parked and we were hanging out by my friends car..and a 996 TT pulls in and parks...and a girl gets out to go get ice cream..so we are talking about it and wondering if its a stick or tip, and i decide to get my car and park it next to hers to see if she notices it...

on her way back shes looking on her phone so i decide to get in the car and pull out, and as i am she yells, "nice car" and we talked for a bit...so yeah

lots of porsche owners are the good kind..but you just have to find them

A real car guy appreciates a car for what it is. The gold chain car guy is not a real car guy.

My good friend just bought a twin turbo. He asks me about my 914 all the time, and offers opinions on my build.....he wants me to keep it as stock looking as possible (but low w/ nice wheels/tires). Says that's the way the car ought to look.

Sooooo, you did something cruel and mean to a stranger that ended up costing him a decent chunk of money for towing fees and mechanic bills and your only motivation was that you didn't like the way he dresses or looks or the car he drives. And you feel good about this?

Hey Pat!

yes, YOUR car (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) is serving me well.

Actually, only now, after 4 months or so do I feel like it is becoming my car, not someone elses car that I drive and put gas in. And putting in a new transmission (and the accompanying check I had to write) really helped solidify my feelings of ownership.

Thanks for taking such good care of her, I will continue to do the same. I hope to give this car to my kids one day, seriously.

Since I started driving my 914 again, after a 13 year hiatus, I look for cool cars to see if they notice me, other p-cars, 'stangs, convertables, bimmers. I've decided that there's not too many car freaks any more, at least not around here. Most of my targets are drivin by Bimbo's, housewives or aging businessmen.

At least I think my car is cool... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/cool_shades.gif)

Not tryin to burst any bubbles here but there are also dickhead 914 owners. They tend to be either young college age guys or middle age middle class guys neither of which can afford a "REAL" Porsche so they get a 914 so they can tell people " yeah I've got a Porsche" We actually had a kid come to the shop oine day wanting to buy a 914, when I asked him wh yhe wanted to do that to himself, his reply, honest injun was " so i can tell the girls at college that I drive a Porsche". He was not kidding. My boss said " You need to go somewhere else and buy a Honda" (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif) I drive a 924 every day and have all types of other P cars wave, and some don't even give a second glance. There is a group of 911 guys theat take a country ride every month, always honk horns when they pass my house, never stop though (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif) Let's face it .....people are sh-t (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/finger.gif)
