New member here...

I'm piss poor at the search function on this site and was trying to find fitment info on this set up.

They list it a 16X7 with an offset of 23.3.

From what I have found so far, they look like they might require 12 mm spacers to work on a stock 75 914 narrow body.

This car will be at or near stock ride height and a weekend play toy. It currently has no sway bars but that will probably change...

I'm planning on using PBR's 5 lug 914-4 front rotors, the Uro 914 5 lug rear flange with turned down PBR 914-6 rear rotors, and stock calipers.

I'd like to use this tire. (205/60r16)

I'm new to the 914 and can't figure offsets properly yet on this chassis

I would appreciate thoughts, tips and any suggestions.

7s are a "maybe" on the rear of a narrow body - it depends on your chassis. On mine, I had a teeeeeeny bit of clearance on one side and not enough on the other. Forget spacers as you're likely looking at having to roll your fenders.
YMMV.

I just installed Maxilite wheels on my narrow body car. I originally purchased 16x7 wheels to test fit. The 16x7 did not fit in the back, although I have Boxster brakes, so needed a spacer that pushed the wheel away from the large caliper. I ended up purchasing 16x6 Maxilites for all 4 corners. I am running 205/55/16 tires which is the correct size.

I like that size better...
I can get Continental DWS in that size!
My favorite DD all season tire.

Did the interference with the spacer installed look less than the width of the spacer?

What were the offsets you tried?
Maxlight shows 23.3 for the seven and 36 for the six.

Were you able to return the 16X7s to the seller?

If so, who did you purchase them from.

And final question! Is that your E36 M3 sitting across the road?

My P-wagon is silver just like yours but my 98 M3 is alpine white.
Purple ones are sort of rare...

Tygaboy, thank you as well. On most cars I have no compunctions about a fender roll but, this car I found is a "museum piece" quality chassis. I'm going to be damn careful not to drill holes, cut into what appears to be a flawless wiring harness, or roll the apparently perfect fenders.

All mods will be "bolt on" and the original pieces that I remove will be restored and stored for a future owner.

This car was "advertised" as 31,000 miles and I'm starting to believe it.

I may take the easy way out and just order mmascari has.

I love the look of those wheels. Of course, there are other ways to fit them under a 914 without rolling the lip...

7x16 will fit stock fender wells with the correct wheel offset. Our man Albert is well connected with the Fuchs, Maxilite and Braid wheel factories so can custom order wheels that fit correctly

16x7's may fit as some have said. Depending on a few things like tire size and such, may have to roll rear fenders. Might rub on front when turned to lock for tight turns etc.

Running 16x6's with the stock 205/55/16 tires. No issues, looks good, plenty of rubber on the road for a street car of the vintage:

17x7s ,,offsett is the important thing.... 7 INCH WIDE X 17 INCH DIA.(5.5 IN. BACKSPACE/ET40) - 5X130MM .....Tire rub marks are from stock 15x7 fuchs 23, offset.

I don't recall where the 16x7 wheels came from but they were Euromeister, which I think are no longer available, at least I can't find a source for them. I ended up selling them to a member on here.

I ordered the Maxilites on Ebay for $280 each, and also ordered my tires from Tire Rack.

You can buy a spacer kit from Elephant Racing, which is what I did, it includes several different sizes so you can figure out what works.

The BMW is my sons car. Nice car, even considered selling the 914 for an E36 M3. Fun to drive

Also believe if you can locate 16x7 951 fuchs, it pulls the offset in just enough rolling the rear fender isn't required.

I think anyway....

I too use the Euromeister 16x7 with the 23 offset. I have 5mm spacers on the front for caliper clearance. The fit is tight at the rear, but does work with a finger space between fender and tire. The fenders a rolled slightly. Tires are 205-50/16 all around.
These cars are all just a little bit different in tolerance which is why you get varying answers as to if they fit or not.

I am going with 16 X 6 et 36 from one of two suppliers

The Maxlights have some serious certifications. The German TUV certs are some of the hardest ones to pass IMO.

The DR911 wheels are less costly, come with caps/lugs and free shipping.

same offset , they have added caliper Clearnce..

It's the 951 8" wheels that are different offset from the 911 8" wheels. Let's you put an 8" wheel on the front of a 911 and use a 9" on the back. Normally, a 911 8" wheel will rub the front fender of a 911.

I e-mailed DR911 and got a responce.

Their wheels are also TUV certified.

That was enough for me...

Ordered 4 @ 210 each. $840 delivered to my shop with black closed lug nuts which look pretty decent IMO. Also includes center caps with painted crests.
Jurys still out on if they will be ok.

I'll post pics after I get them.

I decided to wimp out and not go 7" on the wheels. The standard 7 offset is 23.3 and fender rolling MIGHT be necessary. The car these are going on will stay totally "stock" in regards to the body.

Porsche themselves puts 205 section widths on 6" anyway.

I prefer a 7 or even an 8 for this width as these widths better supports the tire for performance reasons.

This car will be a weekend toy for me and my 82 year-old father and it will never see a race track.

Now, had a 7" been available with a 30-35 mm ET the decision would have been more difficult.

We also own a 76 basket case fiberglass 916 clone that will need buttloads of metal work and this is the car that I will heavily modify.

It will end up with steel fenders and monster tires.

Thanks again for all the help. I far better understand back spacing on a 914 chassis now.

Less than 48 hours with plenty of good suggestions/tips

You guys definitely helped me make my choice.
