why do want to fix it?

i took mine out of action back in 92.
the relay was causing all sorts of problems once it heated.
like no start.

i got sick of pushing the car in reverse on my own to jump start it.

you are better off without it. trust me.

or are you trying to fix up a bigger fark up that someone did trying to solve this problem?

You need this diagram. These are two pics from my restoration and the wiring harness diagram. This area was a complete mess and I restored it back to original - minus the starter yellow wire bypass (red arrow), which was a factory recall item. It's actually pretty easy to do. Best of luck!

Agree! I actually never installed either of the relays into this plastic board. I didn't see any reason to have it hooked up. I just wanted wiring put back to original.

i had a very good auto electrician sort mine out 30 years ago back here in australia after i got the car home. we wired in a hidden kill switch thats hidden under the passenger seat (now drivers seat).
the rest of it is all still there. didn't bother to remove it. relays and all.
he just wired around it.
he was one of the few blokes here who could work out what was going on.
he'd struck the same problem in some privately imported 74+ US muscle cars that folks had brought it so he went for it straight away. i still remember he asked me what year it was. i said 74. he went straight to the seat belt couplings and traced the wires.
he had the passenger seat out in no time and it was all solved in about 15 minutes.
no one else here had a clue what was causing the hot start problem.
which wasn't really a hot start so much as a hot relay after you had the ignition on for a while. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)
still remember it well. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
