Spending some quality time under the car, really since purchasing it years ago. In replacing all of the cables under the car, accel, clutch, heater flaps and noticed this "mount"? just above the passenger side engine bar mount. Sure looks like it should have a purpose.

Thanks. Talk about over built! Unfortunately also found the first "serious" rust so far.

You need a fuel filter at some point. Fuel tanks aren’t new anymore good luck with the rust

Greetings!

Question as to the hoses, the lighter colored hoses seem like the old plastic that was original equipment? can you verify if they are stainless (that is stained) or plastic?

Thank you,
CTC911CTC

If that is rusted through, what does the hell hole (top of adjacent box frame member) look like? And what happens if you poke it hard with an awl?

Yes, that is original plastic fuel tubing. And the original plastic Y junction.
Very unusual to see those original parts still in use.
The hose routing is difficult to follow and could be made neater but it was
a crowded arrangement from new.
On a 914 6 one plastic tube extended up to the carb supply
On a 4cyl. plastic supply and return tubes extended up through the engine shelf.
