A group of 914s going up the Million Dollar Highway to Silverton and Ouray?
One of the most scenic roads in the country?
Are you kidding?
I'd be there before the locals.

@bkrantz (Bob),

Which Aluma trailer do you have (size/spec)? I'm looking at upgrading from my utility trailer so I can haul my 914 around like you (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Hey, I promised somebody a photo of the SCCA/PCA 914 race car I built in the 90s. Almost, sorta a Lowenbrau look. Eventually it had gold Minilites.

I am pretty sure that you promised to show me the car. Thanks!

Hey guys, thinking about next year.
If the 2025 RR location is about the same latitude as it was this year, several of us including myself in New Mexico would love to attend.

I am an outsider up north, but it seems to me that makes for a hard decision: Wichita, Dodge City, or Topeka. On the plus side, I don’t think that I have ever been to the roads in that area. Heading home. My gawd it was fun. Thanks to everyone, especially everyone.

I got the 7816R. The 7800 series is a bit lighter than the 8200 series, with about the same capacity. And I like the rail that goes around the front and sides. I got a 16 ft model, since my parking spot has a limited length, and the 914 fits. But a 18 ft model might be better.

I really like the empty weight of around 1100 lbs, including the winch and front shield (I made that myself from a single piece of aluminum sheet).

And yes, towing to events is more comfy. My wife would not join me otherwise.

Like I told you, I was inspired by Al Holbert's Lowenbrau 962.

It took me about a year to build it, and then a few years getting it sorted out and racing with SCCA and PCA. But a crash at TWS (I swear not my fault!) ended the car. The front end pretty much collapsed up to the bulkhead (but no intrusion into the fuel tank), the floor buckled toward the front, and the transaxle snapped off both mounting ears.

I wanted to, but all the local 914 experts said no. I considered another tub, but I had the urge for this. I parted out the wreck and raised enough to buy the Spec Racer (Renault power in those days).

Had a little delay on the way home: right rear wheel bearing went bad. PMB got me fixed up quick, along with some EFI fine tuning.

Great drive home on Tuesday evening.Attached Image

Thanks for the contribution, Ed! I'm getting the system updated and back on the road in a couple of months.

As as local I can help organize (but somebody with legacy RRC needs to lead).
