Jeff is the best - and despite his modesty, he IS THE EXPERT! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
Got a package in the post yesterday from the US with an ECU and MPS from Jeff Bowlsby and fitted them immediately. Cleaned the plugs and did an oil and filter change. Then… moment of truth… the car fired up immediately, idled. Restarted a number of times. There have been quite a few false dawns and I hesitate to write this but I’m feeling optimistic this might have cracked it. Today, test drives. Once it’s stopped raining. |

Jeff is the best - and despite his modesty, he IS THE EXPERT! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Yes, big thanks to Jeff. Took the car out today, drove it like I stole it. Got it good and warmed up. Restarts, idles, doesn't stink of fuel. Thanks also to everyone who offered advice on this thread. Been a long road. Now I can get down to the small jobs that need doing. (Fingers crossed!!!!) ![]() |

Anyone with D-Jet that has not replaced the diaphragm should do so.
50 years later this is a service item, like replacing the cam belts on OHC engines. It's known to be hard to detect, and causes insidous and hard-to-detect problems. In my own example, the car was starting and running poorly and I spent hours trying to diagnose it. Chris' shop suggested it was the diaphragm so I had Chris rebuild the MPS and FRICKEN VOILA! the car drove like a champ. Seriously, if yours has an unknown history and/or is older than 25 years or so, just replace it. |
