I'm preparing to start the task of buying all the parts and pieces for my restoration.
If you can think of it, I'll most likely need it when it comes to replacement parts. I'm familiar with all the heavy hitters like PMB, Auto Atlanta, Stoddard, Pelican, Restoration Design, 914 rubber, and Sierra Madre. I've got the engine and trans taking care of so it will be items like brakes, suspension, steering, bumpers, exterior lens etc., all weather stripping, complete interior, and all of the costly misc. items, you kinda get the picture. So, who do you guys recommend? I'd prefer to deal with just a few suppliers if possible, rather than search the internet one part at a time and compare prices etc. I know its going to be a very costly endeavor to say the least. Wish me luck... |

There is some value to placing one giant order from one supplier and being done with it. However, realistically, you're going to have to use a few different suppliers as nobody is a one stop shop. Can I suggest that you put together lists of what you need relating to specific areas you will be restoring and then place a WTB ad. Lots of us have parts sitting on shelves that we are not going to use. I personally have two door rebuild kits and new door cards that I got from 914Rubber for a project that ended up getting sold. I know I'm not the only one sitting on new parts in boxes that we probably should just sell You'll save some money that way, but if money is not a concern I'd probably just place orders with the suppliers on the list that Jeff put together and that Craigers17 posted a link to.

I'm familiar with the list its defiantly a great resource. I'm just looking for recommendations on which suppliers folks like and dislike. Good idea on posting in the classifieds for WTB. Thanks

Thanks You'd undoubtedly get varied answers for the vendors people like and dislike, and the answers may also vary depending on the item being ordered. Since you'll likely be ordering from multiple vendors I'd recommend keeping a record what you ordered and who you ordered it from. It'll keep you from ordering duplicate items and will make it easier to return something if need be. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) with the above. Also beware of ill fitting aftermarket parts. Don’t sit on these type of unused parts. They are hard to return later.

Rich Bontempe, High Performance House Redwood City, had a large supply of good used and NOS parts.
