Good tip Mark. It would be very disappointing to ruin an original lens with a new bulb!

Can you share a link? I'm poking around looking for LED versions of "Linolite lamp K 12 V, 10 W" per the factory catalog. There are a lot of variations. Best I can tell it's a Festoon base, 38 mm? Lots of form factors and prices ranging from $2 - $14.
