I'm in the process of restoring my tail lights. The reflective coating inside the housings is faded out pretty good so what is a good way to recoat ? maybe spray paint or reflective tape? Thanks

I’ve been considering how to restore mine. They can be rechromed, which I’m sure is expensive, but I’ve not yet checked on the price. The “chrome” paint isn’t much more than silver paint. I’m thinking chrome car wrap might work.

Do "Spokes" LEDs need the reflective housing?

I'm hoping they don't...

Worked for me, too. Looks fine with the lens on it, light is excellent.

They don’t. The led’s are aimed outwards for max visibility. They are awesome.

I used silver spray paint with excellent results. I did it close to 15 years ago and the lights are bright and uniform.

Another vote for "chrome" spray paint. Not quite a mirror finish but very reflective, and enough to bounce light out through the red lens.

We restored several sets by sending to https://www.gcartrim.com/

It was about $45 per housing, but came back looking stock. This was 2016 pricing… but about to send another batch.

Chrome reflective tape is the way to go. I would think having them refinished would also be a excellent solution.

I think you'll be happy with the chrome metal spray. I used it on my tail light reflector assembly, my headlights, and other items, as well. Nice look IMO. You could hit with some clear to give even more gloss. Best of luck!

Here is a TR6 rear light housing with reflective tape. Looks very good and much better at reflecting than paint.

Attached Image

Here's the Spokeworks TR6 rear light solution. Our LEDs do not use the reflector for anything except mounting the LEDs.
