I have an original luggage rack in great shape, does any one know what this is worth? I couldn't get a pic, but it is the chrome four bar rack that ruins your deck lid. any info would be great, thanks!

I'd pay you .50 cents to destroy it so that it never gets mounted again on a 914 (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)

Why all the hate? I think the thing looks pretty nifty! Very " 70's". I also LOVE the look of the hubcap wheels.

Did I just set myself up in front of the fireing sqaud?

There is someone out there who wants one. There always is. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

I know a guy who restored a Triumph Spitfire. Body work, new paint, interior, top, etc. Plus, a nice crome luggage rack on the rear trunk lid! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/screwy.gif)

Many, many years ago when I had a 61 Sunbeam Alpine, I used to look at my import parts catalogs and consider buying all kinds of goofy stuff. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif) In fact, I still do. Just different kinds of stuff. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

To each his own. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

No, I think one would also have to have chrome steelies with the LARGE hubcaps AND an 8-track player...

I put mine on to antagonize everyone.

Really, it was put on by the Porsche dealer when purchased. It had (20) holes to mount & fill so I left it on. It grows on you (me).

What's it worth??? Depending on condition max of $50 bucks for the right person

I've never seen a lugage rack like that, at least I don't think I have (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/huh.gif)

Is there another kind?

I wouldn't mind a 914 with all the AMCO aftermarket stuff just to have one. Not that I like that look but it would be different. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)

Had one and it is definately different from Tom's

Mine had 4 attachment points on the trunk and a set of elevated bars that went side to side....

Trunk lid was toast as it won't support much over the weight of the luggage rack....

Trunk lid might support an empty styrofoam cooler on a luggage rack IMO.... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/icon8.gif)

Course you always could use the rack to mount a nice big wing....

Back in the 70`s with my first 914 ..it had a luggage rack. We drove to Denver and brought back 12 cases of Coors, four tied to the rack. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beerchug.gif)

2 types of luggage racks... The one pictured above, and

(IMG:http://members.rennlist.com/dan10101/Images/1st_pictures_007_small.jpg)
I think I sold mine for 50.

That took a long long time to sell.

Sell it on ebay, if you dont get any bidders, put up a classifieds add, and bump it every month.
