How much do Carillo Rods go for, are they worth the premium, and where is the best place to buy them. Application is a 2.8 twin plug six.

Buy direct from Carillo, we used to. We havent bought a set of Carillos in a few uears though. They had customer service issues, we slow to respond etc.
Now we use Pauter rods. I think they are about $1400 a set. Andif either manufacturer wont sell to you direct. Try EBS for the Pauter rods |

Not everybody stocks them, and since everybody is building engines now for the upcoming season, they ay be scarce. i sold two sets of used 66mm-stroke rods and did pretty well on 'em... i do know where there's a set local to me, but i'm hoping to put those in my own engine. (sorry...)
but - Jerry Woods usually stocks them. if you run into roadblocks elsewhere, it's where i'd go. actually, i'd go there first. like a lot of high-end stuff, there's some that loves 'em and some that hates 'em. Jerry and Bruce don't think much of Pauter's rods but as you can tell from Tim's response, thre are people eho love those too. i'm putting Carrillo's in my engine partly because i have lusted after them for 30 years, and i can finally do it... |

I think Carillos are great rods. The only reason we havent been using them was Carillo customer service.
If you want some really special rods get some Arrow connecting rods (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif) They cost about 2X what Carillo and Pauter cost. We were apprehensive when we first used the Pauters. We bought a set and put them side by side with a set of Carillos, and beside the geometric difference, the finish machining, finish, and hardware were easily equal to the Carillos |

they -are- nice rods. but were cost no object, i'd probably still go for the factory Ti rods. alas, even with the new job, cost is still a bit of an object ... |

Thanks for the info. I was trying to guage how good a deal was that I was offered and took. Carillos and factory 2.8 P&Cs for $2,500. Guy decided to change classes after he bought everything. Now I have to sell my 2.7 RS P&C that I was going use. Any idea how much these are worth used in very nice shape?

Used RS P/Cs are worth a grand....give or take.
Put em' on the 911 Pelican classifieds & ask for offers. Were I a bit more...flush, rather than flushed, I'd buy em'. |
