If you don't like how things are then what are you going to do to change it? Run for office, become a "good" cop, start a action watch group...... We have all done it at one time or another (bitch about "the man") but how many really actually try to make a difference. I know you won your battle with the police and their writing of bad tickets. That was great, so what other positive changes can you make? |

why was it unregistered, and what is with an inspection? was the trailer dangerous or not? I would expect you to have a better idea of that than any flunky governement inspector. Need a few more details before i think if it was ok or not, but in my judgement, if you were not harming anyone, putting anyone in danger, and made an honest mistake about the trailer registration i would think the cops letting you go is fine. (or a ticket you can clear once proof of registration. )
What's your opinion, you wished they impounded the trailer? Or was it ok cause you got away with it, just like arnold did or what???? You tell me now, should they have impounded the trailer you had???? Your turn. |

Does anyone else feel like they're hitting their head against a brick wall?
This is obviously a very heated topic. I forfeit. There is nothing that i can say to change anyone elses mind. Nothing that they can say to change mine. Can we all agree to that. I'm not going to post here any further. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/huh.gif) OK? |

Ok, so if it is a privilage, why the harsh punishment for no registration when the DMV says you can drive while it is in the mail? And what does TimT have to say, does he think he should have had his trailer impounded?
Fair is fair, and it sure don't look like a fellow 914'er was treated fair, an impounded car for a check in the system is not right. (an illegal alien would have been set free with no problem, happens all the time, their excuse (and it works) is 'I am illegal, hence I can't have a license") so they let them go. Go figure. If I were to miss a house payment the fine would be less than what this poor guy has to pay in fees and fines, not to mention his time. it ain't right, bottom line. He should have gotten a ticket, to be dismissed upon proof of payment. It a bad law when good folks are caught up in it. Since property is seized before due process is carried out, he is being punished before he has his day in court (the day without the car can not be given back, it is gone) This is a violation of our rights. When cops sieze property (a common applied tactic agianst drug king pins) before trial, due process and presumption of innocense is gone, these are important fundimental Rights. believe it or not, cops have wrongly siezed property kept it for years, awaiting a trail, and then the wrongly accused person wins in court and then has to fight to get his or her property back. of course the years that went by with the loss of that property can not be returned. This is a legal trend that got it roots in either the war on drugs (siezing drug assets before trail/without trial) and the trend by cities to denie the right to a trail for tickects,a nd dispense with due process for a systyem of administrative law, inwhich you face no jury, and have a"judge' that works for the City, not only that they cities now have the un-Constitutional right in california to make you pay for the ticket before the final level of appeal before a real judge, so Due Process is out ther window with property seizure tactics. This is a disturbing trend of the last 40-50 years or so. it would have been unheard of in America back when the Consitituion and Bill of Rights meant more. Our dear fellow 914'er should have had his day in court beofre his car was siezed, and the cops better get intune to the DMV rule that yo can drive while the check is in the mail. Seems to me that is an automatic out for impounding any car for this infraction ,and the cops need to reconnize it. While impounding his car, maybe that cop could have been fighting some real crimes??? Anyway Tim T, should your trailer been impounded or not?, and if not, why, what would be the difference between the two cases? if you think you should have had it impounded, why did you not insist it be? Just leave???? So much for a discussion. Or do we just say checkmate? |

LOL makes it even more comical..
a brake light out and no lisence stop or a unregistered and uninspected 20000 lb trailer stop? both are wrong It was the officers choice, we were wrong, and if he chose the other way I wouldnt be bitching about it. which makes wonder else happened when lincon got pulled over |
