That's it......well.....sort of. If I have any energy after my daughter's school open house, I might make it up tonight. I cut the tabs on the plasma this afternoon.

David, that latest drawing looks good. Look forward to seeing your next 'edition'

Grantsfo - I towed my 914 from CA to MD last summer, best I can tell tranny survived fine. I read other posts before I left that recommended topping off the tran fluid. Makes sense. I probably should have replaced it once I arrived here. I also used the magnetic light set from HF. placed them under the sail panel in front of the engine grill ..worked great.

Why are ya'll worrying about the front valence? It comes off in about 10 minutes. Your tabs can hide behind and you just pop off the valence if you're going to tow. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif)

Just one less thing to have to do at the track. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

The less things have to be disassembled the less things have to be reassembled. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)

I am of the belief that going to a TT or AX is supposed to be fun....working on the car anymore than necessary is not fun. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/huh.gif)

Just my philosophy.

I agree! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/agree.gif)

Just wanted to make sure that tidbit was known by the people involved. If it comes down to it, it's easy to remove. But I'm fully supportive of trying to work it out while keeping the valence installed. Someone mentioned cutting the valence, so that's why I piped up. No problem.

Hope David can come up with a nice solution to the issue I started about 2 months ago.

If I only had a car to work up a design on, it would be nice.....

Thursday it is.

Dan,
I am going to use the bracket that came with the superbettle towbar and modify to avoid drilling holes in the car. Not sure of the specifics yet and I will post pics when I get setup on the east coast.

He offered to do a class for us body work newbies and i think i'm going to take him up on it. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif)

I hope you didn't just ask about my 5 lug wheels roger. If you want them you're going to have to go steal them off Gwens car. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif)

Dan, I've got the design down now. Its a bit late to post the pictures, so they will follow in the morning. I've gone to 3/8" all around for strength with a few more gussets to satisfy the engineer. The front tabs are now much higher and two position. This helps clear a LE if you are inclined to leave it in place or move the bar up without a spoiler and get more ground clearance for the bar.

My next task is to cut about 10 sets of bits, make a jig and get them built. Sourcing the hardware is a snap. We are only about a week away from having a finished product. (OK 10 days as I have a busy work week next week)

I also have a second tab design that will accomodate the other type of universal bar that can be found relatively inexpensively on Ebay. (for Andrew) I prefer the strength of that bar to the SB unit, but it does not have the swan neck style drop down like the SB unit.

David, Im impressed that you think of your customers like this!

Consider having yourself a new customer!

When you have it finished I'll have money waiting! AND i'll take a pair of your rear tow eyes!

(Im a manager at taco bell.. I know what customer service is, and YOU my friend, are providing it!)

Looking good, I'll be in for one. I like the looks of the Ebay tow bar, appears as if it will fold up so it can be stored in the front trunk.
