I need to get a tubing bender for making the engine cradle in my Suby conversion. Any fabricators out there that have tubing bender that they like using or one that they hate and wish they never bought? I'm leaning towards something like this because they use so much less floor space.
EZ-bender or one of these another bender |

That's odd - I just looked there and the price was higher. The dies prices were obsene, like $100 more.
How well does it work? |

The speedway bender is $400 with a die of your choice. That bender works well
The JD2 bender works well but it takes up more floor space. then get a Lowbuck notcher to help with the fishmouths... |

I have one similar to the Speedway, although it is not made by that company. I like it. Although it does take up a bunch of space to use with 20 foot stick of tubing. It is really nice to stick a magnetic angle finder on it and follow the bend, making sure you get the right angle. I have also used a table mounted one by Protools:
http://www.pro-tools.com/302.htm I don't like the fact that you can't lay a magnetic angle finder on it and get the exact angles you need. AS far as notchers go, use the cheap ass harbor freight with lots of grease on the bushings until you can afford a lathe and the tubing notcher to go with it. |
