OK I'm in. Anyway that I can help. I live near Beaumont, TX. I'll also PayPal some $$$
FYI. I'm in the Air Guard, and was already on Active Duty for Noble Eagle when Iraqi Freedom kicked off so I didn't get a chance to go, since then my unit has been remissioned, so my deployment oportunities are slim to none. Any way, now I work at the 842 Transportation Batallion, Port of Beaumont, so I guess you can say I'm in the business of moving vehicles for the Army!!! |

We're good right now. I'll ask for more, if needed, but it looks like at least $100 is going to charity. |

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dance.gif) Hi - it's Laurie (John Unthank's wife), recent visitor to the SoCal contingent, and someone who spends a lot of time with a.i.s. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dance.gif) Hey you guys, I have a thought. I've been on the periphery of this thread since it's inception and I'm gonna add 2 cents here.
The only thing I could think of all day was John Belushi in Animal House and his motivational speech culminating in the famous toga party when they were all kicked out of school. I mean, come on now, are we going to be voices of reason, or ARE WE GONNA HAVE SOME FUN !!!!???? How thrilling is it to ship a car across the country? Okay, there's a picture of it being loaded, and gosh here's another one of it being unloaded. If I were sitting in Iraq with limited computer time I think it'd be a lot more fun to see my vehicle in each state with it's corresponding beautiful scenery and talented, good-hearted and mechanical individuals taking a leg of the journey from my old home to my new home. You remember the old "if you can't be there, be Kodak" thing. Just envision the possibilities: - required pictures of the passing of the keys - typical blogs with trip details - leaving a little something in the car for armydude when he comes back (rattlesnake eggs come to mind) - making any repairs necessary along the way - maybe with the money that's been donated - just plain old making the trip - just plain old arriving in Florida - heck, just plain old arriving in Arizona - h,e,double toothpicks, just plain old arriving anywhere you plan to go when you drive a 914 We just took a trip from Arizona to Indiana and back in the fall, and it's darned exciting just to see if you're gonna make it. Everyone here knows that. It's the edge. You're all addicted to the edge. I figure any breakdown that may occur on the trip would have occurred anyway when armydude comes back and tries to put his first 1000 miles on it. We could iron these 1000 miles out for him!!! With all of the good will everyone constantly expresses around here it interests me to think of what a special little trip this could be for armydude's new car. Heck, it's like his Christmas present, he said. Wouldn't it feel good to take care of it for him? Wouldn't it be a blast to entertain him? Doesn't it get your creative juices flowing? It would be like having a little 914 reality show for armydude in Iraq. Can anyone think of anything more fun? I mean, I've had to be "an adult" for most of my life now - can't we all have a little kid fun? DON'TCHA THINK IRAQ NEEDS A LITTLE FUN??? Unless I'm mistaken, armydude's car insurance should cover anyone he gives permission to drive the car? And who's gonna drive it hard or wild?? I can't imagine anyone from this crowd doing anything but babying it. Now come on, dudes, whadya say? Are we gonna sit here and take it...??? P.S. - Hey armydude, what do you think? |

Holy crap. How do you say no to that?
Well, I was one of the first to want to do a drive/tow. I'm still in, but we will really need the TX group to step up. I'm gonna tag it with a S9 decal and a hat in the glove box. |

Hello,
I am back at my camp and I think what you people have done is great!! All I wanted was a phone number to get a transporter, now you guys have gone some place I never anticipated. Sorry for getting ya'l involved in this but thanks for the Help!! Words can't express my thanks enough!! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/pray.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/pray.gif) I'm crazy enough for anything!! I'll holla back later !! (MrsUnFun talking)
What? "Over"? Did you say "over"? Nothing's over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell, no! -Germans? -Forget it, she's rolling. And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the going gets tough... (Patriotic instrumental music) the tough get going! Who's with me? Let's go! Come on! (MrsUnFun screaming) (Tense instrumental music) What the $%#& happened to the 914Club l used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts? This could be the greatest night of our lives... but you're gonna let it be the worst. "We're afraid to go with you, MrsUnFun. We might get in trouble." (Shouting) Just kiss my a** from now on. Not me! l won't take this! |
