Oh, yeah,
Jusat talked to the wife. She says breast feeding the munchkins will help reduce the GER and help them in other ways. Dunnow if the wife has been doing that, but formulas are not 100% compatible with all babies. Ken |

Hi Mike,
Aint it fun feeding - feeding - feeding. I got 2 hours sleep last night, 3 on Saturday. It is getting a little better each day. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/boldblue.gif) I thought the "output" would be a pain, I had no idea that "input" was way more work. Are you sure its GER and not just spit up? Logan will eat to much and "adjust" his food level all over my shoulder. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wub.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/blink.gif) he likes clean clothes to do this on. |

Man, what a day. I like peds, but such a high volume of patients.
Pretty much you have heard everything that I got told. One novel approach that was recommended was to let the little ones sleep in their car seats (as they tend to do anyway) so as to keep the food stuffs in the bottom of the stomach and away from the opening of the esophagus. Also mentioned was to make sure they were buckled in so they do not fall out (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) Go back to bed (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif) |

Mike, For a bunch of car guys they all seem to have some pretty good advice. So you have the Reglan which you can think of as moving things along and the Zantac which you can think of as making things less acidic. It is just my opinion but I think twins are a little less developed at birth in a lot of cases. In your case throw in some prematurity and things can get more interesting. It sounds like you have gotten some very good parenting advice. Anytime you approach things from a parenting point of view you are ahead of the game. Don't get me wrong. I love physiology and pharmacology. My students are forced to listen to me joyfully expound every day. But truth be told, if you can do it without drugs you must absolutely do it. I can really think of no reason against the very novel car seat idea. It is simple and avoids the really dangerous thing about spitting up. Which is of course aspiration. I also absolutely agree that this is a developmental problem. They will grow out of it. Be sure to take a few minutes to yourselves too. Get the heck out. You two have had a year that many of us would not live through. Good luck and see you soon at an autocross near you... Rob |

My daughter does not have reflux, however, I can vouch for the car seat. She did have an episode of "not keeping her food in her stomach" and while on the way to the Dr. she let it fly in my Tahoe. Not one drop left the car seat. Very smart on the designers to not put any type of hole(aka drain) at the bottom (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif) Oh yeah....and I'm up at this hour why??? My five-year-old has strep(sp) and is puking so no one is sleeping..... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/blink.gif) |
