For those of you who like to have a beverage with you while cruising, what did you do as far as a cup holder?
I would love to see your solutions..... |

Yeah, like I would ever drink out of a cup that was held (fondled) by that...

I like the idea some guys have done with the ash tray. Pull out cupholder.
Here's a crappy cell phone camera shot of an el-cheapo standalone one I got at a flaps that works great. Attached image(s) |

Pull out the ashtray and slide in a cup holder. Cool idea.
JBugs.com sells them for Volkswagens. The 914 may have the same ashtray sleeve as a 70-76 Bug, Super Beetle, Bus, etc. If so, they’re only about $20.00. ashtray cup holder Attached image(s) |

That ashtray replacement one is kind of cool. Might interfere with dash controls though. The ones I have seen just had the stock ashtray modded with a hole. DIY.
Here's another design that fits well between the center console and passenger seat. EBay link (IMG:http://home.earthlink.net/~zamolxe/cup1.jpg) |

I used to keep a full roll of duct tape as a cup holder on the transmission bump on the floor of my truck. When the roll was new it would hold a full Tim Horton's coffee cup or a pop can perfectly. Unfortunately, as the roll got used up in everyday duct-tape-type usage (you know how it is), it became lighter and lighter and eventually it would only help roll a half full beverage container across the floor and smash it open against the passenger door when I made a too-sharp left hand turn. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) Then I would have to go get a new one.

[QUOTE] I sold a ton of these very same cup holders, as Porsche units, until e-bay got on my case. They work great on any car situation where the seat and the center console have a tight fit and allow the cup holder to sit firmly in place.
