Are spacers needed to fit these 15x7" wheels on a stock fendered car. My 16x6 Fuchs don't have much clearance between the trailing arm. No I don't have a set of 911R wheels, just thinking.

Which wheels? Which offset?

15x7 is generally a no... dont need spacers.

The general consensus is that 15inch 7's won't fit on a stock fender... (spacer or no spacer)

a couple people are magic and report that they have seen it or done it...

but 99% of the time the 7 won't fit without a fender flair

the exception is the 911R wheel at 1K/each. Those have a different offset and should work.

PS: i know the description gustl posted says 7", but look at them, that does not look like a 7" wheel to me ...

okay, let's "pretend" they are the 15x7 R rims (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)

with a 49mm offset, you'd want to run a spacer of at least 6mm to a max of 12mm for stock fenders....

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/agree.gif) with synth

7"s fit fine up front.. no problems at all...

7's with a 205/50 might take a rolled lip or a subtle flare... OR lots of neg camber......

7x15 or 7x16 with 23mm offset will fit with a 205 tire but you will at least have to roll the lip on the rear. With 195 you might get lucky.

David,

your obviously one of the lucky ones.

I know on both of my cars
plus on 10 more guys with track cars that I've talked to.
can not fit a 7inch wheel.

but your the lucky 1% guy! good for you!

my fenders took a TON of work and a new paint job:

That was my intent.
one of my race groups will only allow 7's..

the other will allow 8's, but I just don't want to buy new tires yet.

Here is a picture with 225's on 7's and a tape measure:

But then I have to buy another 10x longer studs.
and worse yet, I have to replace 2x wheel bearings to install the studs.

In the end it will cost me probably 200+ bucks to do that... not to mention the time and labour to pull/replace the bearings.. And the new corner balance and alignment that come from that

I've been considering it...

(don't forget the extra weight of the spacers and studs)

I saw 911R 15x7 fuchs on a totally stock bodies 914 in Florida at a car show last year. I know the car was stock bodied (atleast the owner said it had no streching of fenders and it looked unmodded to me). (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/cool.gif)

but its cheaper to repaint the car than to buy a set of those 911R wheels these days.

i think you replace studs on the hub (without pulling it off the car...

pull your wheel, then pull the brake dust shield...

you have a clear shot. some creative work with a c clamp maybe?

my memory for the last week sucks..
lets ask Eric (the 5 bolt king!)

I thought you had to pull the hub from the bearing to get access to the back of the studs...

I really think this is right, but maybe Eric will weigh in on this one
